Suresh Raina is a well-known Indian cricketer. A fearless middle order left-hander and part-time off-spin bowler, he is also considered one of the best fielders in the world of cricket. Suresh Raina plays all formats of local cricket for Uttar Pradesh. He was vice-captain of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and captain of the Gujarat Lions. He has also managed the Indian team and is the second youngest cricketer to have managed India. Suresh Raina is the first Indian batter to have played all three forms of international cricket in a century.
In July 2005, Suresh Raina made his first ODI debut against Sri Lanka when he was just 19 years old. However, his Test debut came about five years later against the similar opponent. He scored a century on his first Test debut. Suresh was a prominent part of the Indian team that won the 2011 World Cup.
Suresh Raina was born on November 27, 1986 in Muradnagar, India. He has three brothers named Naresh Raina, Mukesh Raina and Dinesh Raina and a sister named Renu.
In 2000 Suresh Raina decided to become a famous cricketer and consequently moved to Lucknow from his hometown of Muradnagar with the sole intention of joining Guru Gobind Singh Sports College. He captained the Uttar Pradesh U-16 and burst into the Indian spotlight in 2002 after being called up for the England U-19 tour at the age of 15 and six months, where he played Duo formed from half centuries in U-19 Test tournaments.
Suresh Raina also toured Sri Lanka with the U-17 team. He made his first Ranji Trophy debut for Uttar Pradesh against Assam in February 2003 when he was just 16 but did not play a new game until the following season. In 2003, Raina toured Pakistan for the U-19 ODI Championship before being selected for the 2004 U-19 World Cup, where he scored three half-hundreds and caught 90 balls from 38. In 2017, Suresh Raina did not stick to remaining a permanent part of the India squad and was dropped from the annual BCCI retainership.
