Other Activities:

Aside from his successful rap career, Cole is also a producer. In early 2007 he founded his own record label called Dreamville Records with Ibrahim Hamad. Dreamville Records has released nine albums, three of which have gone platinum. J. Cole has produced singles for Janet Jackson, Kendrick Lamar and many other artists. He’s also a small shareholder in Tidal.

Cole also founded a non-profit organization, the Dreamville Foundation, in October 2011. The organization runs various philanthropic events for underprivileged youth, such as a school supplies drive and a book club for young men. The Dreamville Foundation also sponsors writing contests and career days. Through the foundation, Cole purchased his childhood home, which had been snatched from his mother years earlier, for $120,000 in 2014. He bought the house with the aim of making it rent-free accommodation for single mothers and their children. It hosts the Dreamville Festival concert series each year, featuring local music, artists, culture and food, but also big names like Nelly, Big Sean and 21 Savage. Proceeds benefit the Dorothea Dix Park Conservancy in Raleigh, NC

Controversy:

Cole and Diddy got into an altercation at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in NYC. It started with Diddy confronting Kendrick Lamar about a verse in one of his songs and Diddy trying to throw a drink at Lamar. Cole intervened and the two got into an argument involving their respective crews that ended in a minor brawl. A few months later, Cole and Diddy publicly announced that their argument was over.

Cole’s songs Everybody Dies and False Prophets have sparked controversy in the hip-hop community, and fellow rappers have assumed that Cole is attacking rappers Lil Uzi Vert and Lil Yachty. The hip-hop community has also assumed that the first verse of his song False Prophets poked fun at Kanye West. Rumors of an ongoing feud with rapper Lil Pump had been circulating since April 2018, but the two sat down for a joint interview in May 2019 to end the rumors and show fans they’ve put their differences behind them.

Personal Life:

J Cole is married to Melissa Heholt. They attended St. John’s University together and she is now the executive director of the Dreamville Foundation. In a radio interview in May 2018, J. Cole revealed they have a son together, and in July 2019 he announced that the two are expecting another child.

she know lyrics

She knows
She knows, ayy
Bad things happen to the people you love
And you find yourself praying up to heaven above
But honestly, I’ve never had much sympathy
‘Cause those bad things, I always saw them coming for me
I’m gonna run, run away (Oh, I), run run away, run away (Oh, I-I-I)
Run away and never come back (Well, all right)
Run run away, run run away (Oh, I), run away (Oh, I-I-I)
Show ’em that your color is black (Well, all right)

Damned if I do, damned if I don’t
You know I got a girl back home
You got a man what you want, what you want?
What these bitches want from a nigga?
On some DMX shit, huh
I know them other niggas love tricking
On some BMX shit, but not me
Now I’m sure you done heard about me
A black star, Mos Def, Kweli
Good so them bad hoes try me, they try me
This is Martin Luther King in the club, getting dubs
With a bad bitch in his ear, sayin’ that she down for whatever
In the back of his mind is Coretta

And she knows, she knows
And I know she knows, and I know she knows
And deep down, she knows, she knows
And I know she knows, and I know she knows

Well, all right, oh, I, oh, I-I-I
I can’t be what you want from me, well, all right
Oh, I, oh, I-I-I
I can’t be what you want from me, well, all right

Damned if I do, shit, damned if I don’t
I’m passing up on bad hoes
Trying to be the man that she want, what she want?
What she—What she want from a nigga?
To put a ring on it
Got a bitch on my dick right now
And she just want to sing on it
Got me up so high, try and get a piece of that apple pie
I be up so high, try and get a piece of that apple pie
Dancehall vibes with my pants on fire
‘Cause I told her I was sleep
‘Cause I creep with this pretty young thing that I chose
She could be doing the same thing, I suppose

And she knows, she knows
And I know she knows, and I know she knows
And deep down, she knows, she knows
And I know she knows, and I know she knows

Well, all right, oh, I, oh, I-I-I
I can’t be what you want from me, well, all right
Oh, I, oh, I-I-I
I can’t be what you want from me, well, all right

Niggas say, “Turn up,” hoes say, “Turn up”
Only bad thing ’bout a star is they burn up
Niggas say, “Turn up,” hoes say, “Turn up”
Only bad thing ’bout a star is they burn up
Rest in peace to Aaliyah
Rest in peace to Left Eye (Left Eye)
Michael Jackson, I’ll see ya
Just as soon as I die (I die)

Got me up so high, try and get a piece of that apple pie, uh
I be up so high, try and get a piece of that apple pie
Got me up so high, try and get a piece of that apple pie, uh
I be up so high, try and get a piece of that apple pie

Well, all right, oh, I, oh, I-I-I
I can’t be what you want from me, well, all right
Oh, I, oh, I-I-I
I can’t be what you want from me, well, all right

Run away, run away— Back
Run away, run away— Back
Run away, run away— Back
Run away, run away— Back
