The web is full of different colors – red, green, blue, yellow… But what do those colors mean? What are the RGB and hexadecimal code? How to find out the name of a specific color? And how to use it in CSS? In this article we’ll show you how to find out the exact color value of an element in HTML5 / CSS3. We’ll start with the most important part – the color picker.

What are HTML color codes?

HTML color codes are one way of representing the colors we use every day in a format that computers can understand and display. They are commonly used in web design, and many browsers support them. There are different types of color codes, such as hexadecimal, RGB, HSL, and HTML color names.

Hexadecimal color codes consist of six numbers separated by periods. For example, #FF0000 represents red, while #00FFFF represents bright yellow. These codes are easy to remember because each number corresponds to a specific color. However, it’s important to note that some colors cannot be represented by hexadecimal codes. For instance, you cannot represent blue with just three digits.

RGB color codes consist of three sets of numbers separated by commas. Each set represents a primary color, like red, green, and blue. You can combine those colors together to make white, black, gray, etc. This type of code is often used in graphics programs, where you want to change the color of something without changing the background.

HSL color codes consist of four numbers separated by slashes. The first number indicates how much lightness or darkness the color contains; the second number indicates how much hue; and the third and fourth numbers indicate how much saturation and transparency, respectively. This type of code allows you to control the brightness, contrast, and tint of a color.

HTML color names are similar to hexadecimal, except that they are written in human readable text.

Hex color codes

The most popular are Hex color code; three byte hexadeximal numbers (meaning they consists of six digits), with one character in the Hex code represents the intensity of red, another character represents the intensity of green, and the third character represents the intensity of blue. For example, #FF0000 stands for a bright red, while #00FFFF stands for a very light yellow.
