The PlayStation 4 uses a different type of Bluetooth technology than what most people are used to seeing in mobile devices and laptops. This makes it difficult to pair a standard Bluetooth headphone to the PS4. However, Sony does offer a special adapter that allows you to do just that.
You’ll need to buy a special adapter called the DualShock 3 Wireless Adapter ($19.99). Once you’ve got the adapter plugged into your PS4, follow these steps to pair your Bluetooth device.
1. Turn off the PS4.
2. Plug the adapter into one of the USB ports on the side of the PS4.
3. 4. Select the option labeled “Audio Device.”
5. Choose either “Headset” or “Speaker,” depending on whether you’re connecting a wired headset or speakerphone.

Use a USB Adapter to Connect Your Headset to Your PS4
If you’re looking to add a wireless headset to your PlayStation 4, there are several options out there. But one of the most popular choices is the Plantronics Voyager Legend Wireless Headset. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a standard 3.5mm jack, so you’ll need to buy a USB adapter to make it work.
The good news is that Sony offers some pretty decent support for devices that aren’t officially supported. You just need to know where to look. To do that, open up the Settings app on your console and select Devices. From there, navigate to the section labeled Audio Output. There, you’ll find a list of devices that are compatible with the system. Scroll down to see what’s listed under “Other.”
You’ll want to select USB Audio Device, and then scroll down to the bottom of the screen to locate the name of the device you purchased. Once you’ve found it, tap on the name to pair it with your console. After that, you can plug the headset into the adapter, and voilà — you’re ready to go.
